My sister has signed up to plusnet home phone and fibre 40meg
She has no working phone at her home and an engineer was supposed to call yesterday afternoon to install phone socket and fibre etc
No show:mad:
Is it best to give them a few days or complain straight away?
Bit miffed as I recommended them:(

I'd have been on the phone first thing this morning, no point in hanging around.

You call as soon as the appointment gets missed. What is she going to do, wait in for a few days to see if they guy turns up a couple of days late?

Also you ask for compensation for a missed appointment and her wasted time, because otherwise these companies take the mickey.

And it won't be an engineer they send.

It will be an Openreach engineer if there is a phone socket to install, they'll only send a sub-contractor like Kelly Comms or MJ Quinns if there is already an active line and a simple ADSL > Fibre change is required with a new faceplate.

Openreach appointments being missed is a common thing, been on the receiving end a few times myself. Just get on the phone to Plusnet (online chat seems to be a quicker response) and let them know and they'll re-arrange it - it can just be annoying when you've booked half a day off work for it

You'll tend to find the ADSL > Fibre install appointments by the sub-contractors are rarely missed, because the engineers are paid per install so its important they get as many done in the day as they can

His point is that they're not engineers at all. Putting a socket on a wall, or installing a satellite dish doesn't mean they're engineers. It's really weird that this has even become a thing.

I spent 3 years at uni coming out with a BEng in mechanical engineering and I don't consider myself an engineer - someone who connects up a phone line certainly isn't!

UPDATE
Sunday morn put a request for help on Plusnet forums and 30 mins later got her a new appointment for install and a free month for the cockup(it was on their end,so the rep said)
Will see if this one goes ok :D

Good news on the install, interesting to see it wasn't openreachs fault and Plusnet's admitted there issue.

An Openreach engineer was booked to come to my home through Plusnet but didn't bother turning up either. He did come the day after with no real explanation. They do as they wish.

Update
OR turned up at 830 this morning :D
Just got back from setting it all up for her
Plusnet router that I gave her is a bit pants upstairs
Any suggestions of a `CHEAP`router with better wi-fi ? :)
