I'm looking to change broadband provider and so far the best I have seen is PlusNet's Pro option.
From what I have read it sounds like a good package for maintaining good speeds (no throttling), and the unlimited download's through the night.
It's £19.55 a month, 15gb usage allowance.

Does anybody have this package? What router do you get with it?

Does anybody know of any packages from other ISP's that can compete with this for constant speed and have a higher download limit?

Where I live I can only get Max 2mb on my line anyway so don't require anything faster.

No LLU available either.

don't know if this image helps at all.

Thanks

The £19.55 package gives you 30gb bandwidth ,for £14.65 you get 15GB according to there site !
I was with them for 4 years and never had problems untill going over the limit, then it all goes pear shaped.
If you can cope with keeping under the limits i would recommend them
personally ive jumped to sky and never looked back :D

adsl24.co.uk

30gb peak usage, 300gb off peak (10pm -8am). Quality service, i highly recommend.

its £19 a month.

There packages are changing in march to ADSL2, so if you can get upto 24mb your laughing, plus they drop the off peak limit completely, but chaged the off peak time to 12 midnight to 8am, but its unlimited bandwidth during that time, swings and round abouts i guess.

^^ do not go with enta resellers at the moment. Having a terrible time at the moment, I have just moved from UKFSN to newnet and very happy with the connection. Only thing is its 12gb a month limit!

I'm on the Option 3 package and I am very happy. Haven't even noticed the throttling myself but I very rarely download anything during the day.

I believe they supply either the D-Link 2640B or Thompson Speedtouch 585v7, it's a bit of a lucky dip.

Entanet, but they're having problems right now. AAISP are also meant to be good but they have low peak-time caps (peak time is basically normal work hours (mon-fri 9am to 6pm I believe, so most are at work anyway). Off-peak I believe is something like 100GB.

Their Peak hours are 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday, weekends are off peak and the periods between 2am and 6am are unmetered. Their off peak allowance is indeed 100gb, I'm personally going to Fast.co.uk and expect to migrate on the 23rd on the 110gb package for £45.99 per month. I might give AAISP a go after that and see what they're like.

thanks for the reply's,

It looks like a toss up then at the moment between PlusNet's option 3 and pro packages.

Not sure if I will notice the difference between the two.

Absolutely!! Don't touch Entanet. The resellers can be excellent, but their network has serious problems, terrible speeds on certain nodes and no redundancy. In fact just reading that they haven't even finished their network (to support IPSC and WBC). Far worse than that though is the lack of communication. The Plusnet Pro option is one I'd use. Vispa have massive allowances if you download a lot.

UKOnline 2Mb package for around £15 pm
I'm in a similar situation to you during the holidays at my parents house in the sticks, can only get about 3.5MB max on my line.
UKOnline has (at least when I signed up, and I think it's still the same) no caps or peak/off-peak nonsense, just a good old-fashioned "Take the **** and we'll send you an email" Fair Use Policy. I've done some fairly heavy downloading and not been contacted, and my mate on their LLU service downloads hundreds of GB a month and has never had a problem either.

Yeah, Enta's packages are changing from 30th March, will be up to 8mb during peak hrs, which will be from 8am to midnight Monday to Friday, and their off peak is going to be Midnight till 8am Monday to Friday, and all weekend, but off peak you will only be getting 1mb or less, as its going to be free, but that will probably be ok for you if you can only get 2mb anyway, and you can get a decent monthly peak time cap, 30/60/90/120gb. :)

Cheers for this,

not sure if it helps or makes the decision even harder.

It's annoying the new packages now have 12+ month contracts... Even existing customers who want to upgrade their package will be entered into a new 12-18month contract which is a bit annoying.

Just upgraded to the unlimited package with Plus. Been a customer for years and never had a bad time at all, so more than happy to stick with them for another 12 months. The traffic priority limitations don't really matter so much for me, as we only ever get a 3Mb connection at the best of times, and the things we most use at night (gaming, browsing) are actually better prioritised.

As much as I would have loved to have gone for the max speed Pro package, 15GB a month would be impossible for us. As a family of 4 very regular internet users, we easily hit 50-100GB a month.
