PlusNet - Technicolor 582n Alternative

Not an all in one device ** edit it is a all in one :) , any other issues with it ?

None for me.

I actually had an Asus DSL-AC68U before the VR900 and the Asus would reboot every few days for no reason, the VR900 was an excellent replacement for me ie no issues and solid connection period.

The two issues I've encountered are a limit of 16 configurable port forwarding rules, and the fact that bandwidth control is really dumb and limits bandwidth unnecessarily, so I've turned it off.

Other than that it's fantastic. I hope they keep improving the firmware and software for a while, or that custom firmware support appears at some point (e.g. DD-WRT).

using the Gigabit Router Model No. TL-WDR3600 from tp link with the openreach modem and it has been flawless. and a good price as well.

this model has been updated by the TP-LINK Archer C50 AC1200

what is there to be confused about....its a good router that works very well....And was bought new at a good price last year from a high street retailer...don't understand your confusion :)

just reading that it is already out-of date, is it wise investing in a product which already is end of life..

Isn't that for you to decide. I was just giving you an option for a router that runs very well with plusnet fttc, The Archer c50 you talked about looks exactly the same as the WDR3600 that I use but as I have not actually used the c50 I can not say if it does the same job. Just trying to help. When I bought the wdr3600 I researched it and found it to be a lot cheaper than the ASUS routers and seemed a good option if you want to save some money.

Any way hope it helps which ever way you decide to go.

I can also agree that the technicolor router they provide is awful!

It was that awful it actually stressed me out when I was trying to play online gaming. I always suffered with random disconnect and the Internet freezing. The router can only support up to 4 devices.

I upgraded to a tp-link wd9880 and all these issues stopped. If you put the model number on Google, you will see how many bad reviews it has haha

Used to be 40/20. Old customers get to keep the same profile.

Now 40/2 & 80/20.

This! But be aware Plusnet are silently rolling customers on old profiles to 40/2.

Also the Technicolor router is not great, the 2704n Hub Zero isn't much better tbh but is better than the technicolor.

So I'm in the process of looking for an alternative myself.

I'm stuck on what the difference is between the TP-Link VR900 and the TP-Link D9. They seem the same spec wise but different physically in appearance.

Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me is the VR2600 worth the extra £100 over the VR900?

Give it time and the price will drop, however you'll have the VR3200 down the road at some point so latest technology never stays on top for long.

Personally I don't think it's worth extra 100 quid at the moment.

Correct, the VR900 is an excellent modem/router, very happy with mine on Plusnet, solid connection and very good wifi range, not much more I can ask :) ..

Sweet.

Are there any other routers I should be looking at comparable to the VR900?
