Podcast app that will reliably sync episode play status and position

Hi all.

It seems that no matter what podcast app I use I cannot get any of them to reliably and consistently sync episode play status and position. Just today I listened to a number of podcast episodes at work on my phone yet when I got home and picked up the iPad an episode I had listened to completely on the phone was showing as partially played on the iPad. This was Downcast. I have also tried Pocketcasts and that has the same issue.

Does anyone know of a podcasting app that will reliably and consistently sync everything across all devices?

I've had these problems for so many years and I can't believe no one has cracked it yet.

I use a mix of spotify and plex, both seem fine in regards to keeping play position across devices although plex podcast support is a bit basic but I use it anyway so just an extra feature really.

Would just use spotify but quite a few podcasts aren't on there.
