How?! Who the hell has been teaching the silly sod if he's managed that?

To echo what everyone else has said...

WTF! He has 8 points on a provisional licence?

I'd tell him not even to try and attempt his driving test. There's no way anyone is going to let him drive after he's managed to clock those points up!

At a guess he got done for joy riding or drink driving before he even had a license...

Over 6points he'll lose his license, so why spend the money learning. Wait till the points come off.

In which case, he might as well get used to what laughably passes as public transport in this country, 'cause he won't be driving legally for a while.

***edit***

But will he, though? I'm not so sure he will automatically lose it.

Actually, you may be right. Knowing the screwed up system we have here, he may keep the license but lose it if he gets in any more trouble. Not sure how it works when you have points before your actual full license.

Of course he's not going to lose his license the moment he passes, do you really think they'd have such a stupid system in place?

If you read the DVLA website, this sentence is crucial:

Valid penalty points incurred prior to passing the first test are taken into account if the driver commits a penalty point offence during the probationary period.
This infers that the existing points will only be taken into account if he commits a further offence during the penalty period. Basically if he gets even a single additional point during his first two years he'll lose his license but if he stays clean for those two years he'll be fine.

I wouldn't have been at all surprised actually....

But surely he'll still have to declare these convictions to his insurance company, if so I would love to hear what his quote would be!

Great, so Big Kev starts nicking cars at 12. Gets arrested for joyriding, driving without insurance, driving while drunk etc etc etc...

He turns 17, he's had every warning under the sun, he has 25 points on his 'license'

He takes his driving test and passes, and is allowed on the road like every other hard working person.

Fantastic.

Oh yeah with any luck his insurance will be so stratospheric that it'll stop him driving. More likely is that he'll just drive without insurance tbh :(

If it were up to me then you'd not be able to take a driving test with any points on your license and would have to wait for them to expire first.

i just did a quote for him on car i insured for £300 and it says £4180 so he's had it anyway.

It'd be ******* stupid to have it any other way.

Thats nothing, i know someone who actually had an extra part to his licence because of all the points lol. Filled up the entire page of his paper counterpart lol!
