Ok, i cant figure this out, i have points on my license that are five years old this october. My insurance is up for renewal, i know i have to tell them but haven't they expired?

I thought they expired after 4 years and you could send your license and have them removed, If i can do that whats stopping me sending it off and having them removed not telling the insurance and if i ever have to produce my license after an accident they wont be on it.

Because they ask you for the past 5 years? If they find out you've lied then they could use it against you. Personally I wouldn't take the risk.

I was in the same situation last year. Didn't make a difference to my premium :)

Thankfully I'm COMPLETELY clean now :D

Whilst on the subject of points, am I now "clean" ?

I have two convictions, MS90 3pts each.

One offence was comitted 22/01/02 - Convicted 07/05/02
The other, was 20/02/02 and convicted 09/07/02.

The first convicting court code is 2079, the second court is numbered 2799, under the final conviction it says "2799 SENTENCED 23/07/02"

If so, do I just send my paper licence (or whats left of it!) back to the DVLA?

Sorry about the mild thread hijack. :o

Theuy remain on your lisence for 4 years (3 years for totting up) from the date of the offence. :)

And you have to pay to get them removed - but you don't have to get them removed if you don't want to. :)

P.S - If you move house then they come off for free - then move back home a month later ;)

P.P.S - Did you get a ban? If so then it's 4 years from the conviction date.

No, I did'nt get banned (there the only points I have - touch wood!)

I'm moving house soon, thus, it looks like I have a result! :)

Great stuff, thank you TripleT. :)
