Can anyone please give me some advice as I'm going there with some friends for a few days next month. (somewhere near Gdansk) I'll be flying there with Ryanair  :(

Questions are
What currency to take (Zloty or US Dollars, saw something about taking US dollars instead?) What about credit cards?
What's the weather going to be like (as in colder than here)
Do the locals generally speak English to tourists? If not what phrasebook?

Any other thoughts or advice?

Thanks. :)

I went to Krakow last August.

Money : Zloty (They do have hole in the walls)
Weather : Hit & miss - first 2 days needed a coat, second 2 days were shorts & t-shirt.
Language : Everybody speaks English

I've only ever taken Zloty myself and never had any problems at all. Regarding the language it really depends where you are going, when I go over I flight into Gdansk and then bus it to Koszalin, my drivers very rarely speak any English, but if you can speak some German you should be alright.
Always worth learning a few phrases though, if not just for the fun to be had when you miss pronounce something completely wrong! For a while I was miss pronouncing the word please and ending up saying piglet!

I haven't been to Poland but I visit family in Eastern Europe quite regularly so as far as weather goes it's generally warmer summers than the UK (due to mainly being inland areas) but also colder winters. I'd have said if you go next month pack some warm jumpers but it shouldn't be any worse than here.

As for English, I think you will be shocked how well they all speak English, at least in areas generally touristed.

Of course it wouldn't hurt to learn a few phrases or take a phrasebook if you get stuck:

Hope you have a nice trip.

You pronounce it Wudka not Vodka :D

You'll love it, language shouldn't really be a problem. Just learn some basics as trying goes a long way!

Take some Zloty. There will be cash machines.
Be prepared for some cold and wet weather.
You will need some basics when you get away from the main tourist areas.
The language isn’t that difficult.
Have lots of fun.

The girls are very flirty...even the ones with boyfriends/husbands. And generally the prettier the girl the larger the boyfriend. Polish girls rate muscle>everything generally.

Pig ugly but muscular...Poland is the country for you :D

Łeba is near Gdansk and has some pretty cool sand dunes and beaches. Unlikely to be beach weather by then but the dunes are still worth seeing if you're into that sort of thing.

Thanks guys. I'll be going to some place not far Gdansk, called Sopot? It's supposed to have a pier, but I can't see it being as tacky as the three seaside piers that are in my County. :o
