Police car on bridge.

Silly me. Entered a dual carriage way and was following a Bentley SUV car.

Before I know it I’m doing easily 60 in a 50 then almost 70 after we transition into the 60. I looked at my dash cam after.

I look far ahead and see a police car on the bridge.

Bentley sees it later than me, and I’ve not braked but let the car back down to 60 itself.

The police car is parked above our side of the road, facing the direction to go from left to right (as I’m looking at them) and they are pulled up on the furthest side away as we approached.

I saw no windows open and presume they wouldn’t want to be checking speed of cars where they are looking across the road they are on, with vehicles on their road obscuring the view as they pass of the carriage way below.


Been years since I’ve noticed a conspicious police car and actually been speeding. I’m pretty good with speed, but keeping up with the Bentley seemed to be automatic for me lol and when I saw the speed I was surprised.
 
Maybe pulled over eating Doughnuts?

They could be sat there for anything, it’s hard to guess what they were doing if you couldn’t see.

Cross your fingers, I’d be leaning towards “Should be alright” but just wait 14 days and if nothing turns up you’re all good.
 
Surely a speed gun won't get an accurate reading from a bridge as you aren't going straight at them?

Often the ones you see on motorways are the DVSA checking lorries. They look similar to police cars

I noticed a Police Motorcycle at the side of a road, on the other side was a bloke stood with a Speed Gun.

Thankfully it was rush hour, lots of slow moving traffic otherwise I often do slightly over down there if it’s quiet, naturally as it’s a downhill section.

Lesson learnt!
 
dunno could have been investigating something. but yeh if it was a speed trap I believe the general rule is that by the time you have seen them its already too late.
Speed awareness course isnt too bad to be fair.

I've driven under them before on the motorway and thought oh ****! but nothing's ever come of it. Maybe just being there is deterrent enough, judging by all the brake lights coming on.
 
Was an Aston Martin. My mistake.

Pulled some stills and zoomed in a bit. Just on my phone so not great but you get the idea…

He is on the far side of that bridge so his view would be hindered by passing traffic.

More the I look at it the more unlikely they were monitoring traffic at that point in time at least. No sign of a man out with a camera and the car looks like all windows are up.

I’ve noticed the police car but the Aston hasn’t or doesn’t care…I won’t mention the speed I think I was doing…

I’ve judged myself. Was not really thinking and just accelerated with the car in front.

Hopefully he is sat in that car and they don’t sit uncomfortably in the car looking out the window or through the glass with the gun.

And if so he just focused on the Aston. I slowed the Aston didn’t.
