Polish/Eastern European cuisine - any fans?

My granddad used to put a bit of plum jam in his to counteract the bitterness of the sauerkraut - is this normal or just him? Maybe you know citizen?

I have had eaten and watched Bigos being made by my grandmother mother and father, and no had not come across anyone adding plum jam to it :P

I have made it myself a few times (not that hard to be honest) tasted as it should and never thought of counteracting the bitterness of the sauerkraut as that is what made the, well Bigos :P

Could have been his secret ingredient :)

Beef rolls (Zrazy) and Greek style fish (Ryba po grecku) are very tasty. The rolls are stuffed and the fish is great after it has been left in the fridge.

I do enjoy my polish food, try to have a least one polish meal a week, reason being polish gf. Been over to Poland a few times and everything is always pretty tasty. Quite like the blood sausage, in fact not come across anything I don't like. Quite like to have Pierogi for a lazy dinner.

I have a Polish wife so have eaten quite a bit of Polish food and love it. I do most of our cooking so not that much Polish food at home, mostly at her parents or when out.

Similarly I have a polish girlfriend who I have been with for 6 years so have been over to Poland quite a few times..food is generally very nice, her homemade pierogi is awesome :) only thing I really didn't get on with was the carp she bought at Christmas last year and the bloody thing stank to high haven when she was gutting it....
