My granite worktops are looking a little tired, and I'd like to restore them back to a mirror shine. Does anyone have any experience of doing this - what chemicals to use, whether it is safe to use a mechanical polisher?

Thanks!

Oops - sorry for the wrong forum. Thanks to the mod that moved it.

I've read some good things about Gtechniq P1 Nanocomposite polish but, granite being as hard as it is, I'm quite sceptical about hand polishing being sufficient to restore a mirror shine.

You can buy granite cleaner & polish, but i think you achieve better results having a specialist do it,, as they deep scrub it, before buffing & polishing.

Several firms in your area who specialise in marble worktop cleaning, linky: http://www.marbleworkseast.co.uk/

You will struggle doing it by hand.

Get a quote from specialists, if you have only scratches they can polish it using special disc, but if you have stain or other marks could be a problem. Granite can absorb some liquids and polish that will be hard...
