Yes, biggest game changer since my first SSD.
What about running around the same spot where frames vary between 50 and 100. THAT'S where the beauty lies. Capital letters just used, yes.
If stuttering, hitching, judder, screen tear, etc don't bother you then fair enough
Also, if you're not seeing the motion clarity difference between 60hz on a non gaming IPS panel and 100hz on a TN gaming panel (the dell is virtually the same as my rog swift I believe), then again it may be time to rethink those old eyes of yours bud
Launch a game that your GPU can't push at that 100fps and you'll see.
I was going to reply with a full on detailed post, but I can't, as what the Royal ****ing hell is Sir Hammerlocks big game hunt???
Seriously, wtf?
Ok I'll play. If you still have your other 60hz screen, you must have noticed the difference in smoothness and judder if frames dropped under a vsync locked 60? Or maybe you're one of those odd people that play with vsync off and don't mind tearing of the image, which is just plain wrong?.....
....Actually, I can't be bothered. I'm off to bed. No offence. If you can't appreciate gsync give your monitor to someone who can
Yes
Already had a single 980 and had planned upgrading my monitor to 4k a while back so G-Sync made perfect sense to me. Must admit it has lost some of it's usefulness having a 2nd 980 in SLI, but it is still useful in some games where I can push the details up higher and have the occasional drop in FPS. Any game that can run at your monitor's refresh rate it's an entirely wasted technology.
Guess the biggest wow factor was going from a Dell 2412M to an Acer XB280HK.
Indeed, seems to be a combination of a new power brick and DP cable that has sorted it. Hopefully thats it for good. Had a wee quick blast on bf3 just now. Feels so much better compared to 60Hz.
I only have bf3 currently installed, so tbh not a great game to measure the use of gsync as ive never had issues running it at decent fps.
Yet the majority in this thread say it is worth it.
should have spent the 200 smackers on a decent eye test or put it towards eye surgery
Thankfully i got my swift for a lot less than the current retail price. To see the full benefits of gsync ill have to install something a bit more demanding. But ill say this, 144Hz makes 60Hz feel like playing a game in sticky mud.
Bowl me over? Yes
Would I go back to gaming without? No
Where are you getting the figure £200 from?
I assume he means if ya look at the price difference between a top end monitor like and x34 and check the gsync vs no gsync theres rougly a £200 difference. Just a guess.
edit: ignore me, explained above
I know.... It is to show that freesync is in actual fact "free".
its shame theres no hack for nvidia cards to run freesync, that would solve it
