He made his point he's not happy with the wording and to be fair he does have a point but at the same time he knows what Easyrider is saying/implying but Castiel being Castiel has to feel he's won the argument so makes a bigger deal out of it than it actually is.

Castiels epeen is very sensitive.

I agree with his termination, shame it's happened but if you're going to turn into a yob then you only have yourself to blame for the consequences.

I agree with this completely.
I'm not a fan of TG anymore, but still a lot of people are so it's a shame it happened but he only had himself to blame

As much as I like Top Gear, I agree that sacking him/not renewing is a right course of action. It isn't the only one they could have taken, but it was certainly an acceptable one if he attacked another member of staff.

If what was reported on the other thread is true that there was a longstanding grudge or feud between the two then the BBC should have ensured that they were kept apart or the producer being relocated to another position somewhere else considering it's one of their top earners. However this being the BBC they wouldn't understand the concept of the profit motive if it hit them in the face and will no doubt be congratulating themselves on relaunching the show with a new politically correct, anodine, non-offensive lineup which will sink without trace and go back to worrying about where their funding future is coming from.

That being said... I don't agree with the sacking it was stupid that it got to that point but having painted themselves into a corner there was no other alternative as its clearly an unacceptable practice in the workplace.

Do I think that JC should be face punishment for his actions? Yes of course what he did was wrong. As others have already said I am in the "camp" of it was a badly handled situation that should have never even happened in the first place.

Might as well go cancel the TV licence now since there is nothing worth watching any more for me personally :( well except for the Snooker I guess but that is it.

Stoner81.

I think it's the right decision. I'm a TG fan and like Clarkson, but his behaviour is inexcusable. You can't go around punching somebody in the workplace no matter who you are and expect no consequences.

If it was brought to my attention that one of my staff had verbally and physically assaulted another they would be fired. It is completely unacceptable behaviour, especially over food.

I'm not sure he was technically sacked but I do agree that they shouldnt renew his contract.

It's a shame about Top Gear but Clarkson has had enough chances, so if anyone should be blamed for there being no Top Gear on TV it's him.

As much as I liked the show, at the end of the day you cant do what he did and not get sacked.

This to be frank. I really like the guy and i hope the show carries on under a different name on a different channel but at the end of the day it was the only action the BBC could take

Should have been outright sacked and should also be having a word from the police at the very least. This wasn't a brief exchange of words followed by a smack. This was a prolonged verbal attack, followed by a significant physical assault.

I like Clarkson a lot and reveled in the outrage he caused to the PC brigade. But this was completely overboard. I hope he at least shows some humility in the coming days.

Sacked (not renewed)? There were other ways of doing things which would have sufficed, so I voted no.

Thats not to say that there shouldn't have been a punishment though.

As to those saying that punching is always a sackable offensive, well thats not exactly true. In many places, expecially small bunissness, a sit down with both parties and the boss and a sincere apology would suffice.

Or if you are:
Mark Thompson
A professional footballer
John Prescott...

Everyone who pays their TV license lost £50m a year because 2 men had an altercation and one got a bust lip, pretty pathetic stuff really
