Poll: Poll: Organ donation opt out

The PM has announced plans to follow Scotland and Wales in introducing an opt out scheme for organ donation, thereby placing everyone on the organ donors list unless they opt out.

As many of you may know, I suffer from serious heart problems so will need a new heart one day, so this is good news for me, but I’m interested in finding out your take on it. Would it be possible to have a poll please on if you agree with the opt out and if you are in or out with the options of:

Agree and IN
Agree but OUT
Disagree but IN
Disagree and OUT

Just when I thought the Daily Fail readership couldn’t get any worse, people are actually commenting that they don’t agree with it as they don’t want their organs going to immigrants. WTAF!

I would have issue with hardened criminals or those who are likely to abuse any organs given to them, (George Best). If I could opt in but exclude anyone with a conviction for violent/sex offences then great.

Doctors are unable to make any moral judgements on who to give organs to, but they are able to refuse if they are not confident the recipient will look after their organ properly. It’s not foolproof but it is there.

And is utter rubbish. You got any idea how much testing and cross matching needs to occur.

This. So much testing needs to be done that people are often called to the hospital and prepped while all the testing is going on. Then, they can be told “no, sorry, the organ is unsuitable” and you have to go home.

It’s quite simple, if you care about saving lives through organ donation but you like most of the people in society can’t spend literally a couple minutes of your miserable lives to sign up because you are too lazy and as a result people die because of the lack of organs, then you are attributing to the problem. If the majority of the supposed 80+% that profess to care can’t be bothered, then majority of those people are dicks.

You just hate the world don’t you?

Pregnant Hull mum carries baby she knows will die at birth - so she can donate unborn child's organs

A Hull mum who knows her unborn baby will not survive is continuing with her pregnancy - to donate the baby's organs to a dying child.

Hayley Martin was told at her 20-week scan that the baby she is carrying will die during labour or shortly after birth.

She was offered a termination to prevent her going through the trauma of a stillbirth.

But Hayley, 30, and husband Scott have decided to complete the pregnancy instead - so their daughter's organs can be donated to other babies.

Wow, thats incredible. Putting yourself through such trauma and heartbreak to help others live is truly amazing and inspiring.
