6. I earn so ******* much I can save more than 80% and live a luxurious life style at the same time. Or just 80%+

Thankyou please.

I'm personally number 6*

*4

"Do save" and "Can save" are very different things.

I save about 40% of my aftertax wage, after I pay bills, rent and give myself a nice chunk of spending money.

However, that saving might only last for a month as I seem to be in the habit of buying big expensive things every single month, or booking holidays.

I would say 4 currently. Approx 25% of my wages goes into an ISA. I don't usually spend all the rest, so it can be a bit more overall.

Over the summer when I had a job it was 4. Then I bought an iPhone4.

And now i'm back at Uni so it's 1, and all the savings over the summer are drying up too.

i dont purposefully save money away anywhere at the moment. money just sits in my account unused

Number 1. Can't really afford to be doing the job I'm in, but can't afford not to work (and refuse to go and live on the state).

Trying everything to get a better job, but it isn't easy!

Me and the wife can save about 25% of our income. In reality it's about 10%. saving account with standing order for the win

also poll results are a bit misleading as you have students and people who pay out mortgages / rent and have dependencies.

I take home 1870 a month not including overtime and try to put away at least £500 a month. Obviously with the mortgage and bills its sometimes less if we needed something out of the ordinary. This month it was closer to £700 and we also bought a new tumble drier out of my overtime money. No idea how much the wife put away this month.

The plan is for the wife and i to have about 5k each before the first kid is born which shouldn't be for about 2 years.

After all bills and expenses are taken into consideration I reckon it's about 10% I put into savings.

The rest goes into my holiday fund/boys toys account/car/bike fund - does that count as savings? If so then it's more like 50%.

No, its not misleading at all. It's only misleading if you think the question is 'Who has the most money' which of course its not.

Saving is relative.

I put 0% but thinking about it I do put 6% away in my Pension so I guess that would count.

What are we counting as savings? Money I will put away to use on a holiday? Money I put away just so I have some saved? Pensions? I guess around 10% overall.

I asked the same question. As I have a specific savings account I use purely for savings that I don't ever draw on. Then another account I use as a short term savings pot which I do draw on (holidays, frivolous spendings), another account for my home bills etc... and then my main personal account that I use day to day.
