I went to Poole once by mistake. I'd had a skinful and got on the train which was going to Surbiton but the driver had different and perplexing ideas and went to Bournemouth instead 
Then a taxi happened and I was in Poole with some rascals I'd met on the train and then a club happened and then it was Sunday afternoon and oh no 
So yes, go to Poole but make sure the train driver knows what he's doing (or get on the right train in the first place, if you want to be super careful).
