Poll Tax Riots/Bradford Riots Sentences

That's a bit of a jump isn't it? As for the rioters, violence is never a solution, but the nature of the protest was perfectly valid, the poll tax was a huge mistake on the part of the govornment, and the people spoke out against it.

The poll tax was spoken out against because it treated everyone fairly, and some people didn't think they should have to pay the same for being provided with the same services....

It was a much fairer system than the current council tax one, which tries to claim that people in more expensive houses use more council services, or that they have a better ability to pay, neither of which are true or logical.

Don't mean to take this off topic but do you have a link to the post about your dad?

Nah I didn't post about it mate was a couple of months ago she was "sentanced" if you can call it that. Judge went on about how she as a nurse in an old peoples home should know the consequences of her actions, how she's attacked a 61 year old heart transplant patient then claimed to have been attacked by him. Judge went mental at her for trying to pin the attack on my dad as she had not one bruise, scratch or mark on her but 8 independant people say she continued to kick him after he went down out of pure anger.

He said she was lucky not to be up for GBH, then handed out a £200 fine? They're lucky I didn't dish out my own justice on the evil like bitch there and then. Annoyingly my dad lost more than the fine in his pension as he's retiring this year and it won't count to his final salary pension as it'll be paid by cheque and not in a wage slip (he's fighting this). He's better now and oddly doesn't want to claim for compensation as he doesn't see why the tax payer should pay for this silly cows actions.

Seriously the UK needs to wake up and increase sentances for people, rapist, pedophiles and murderers should NEVER be let out of prison. I'd happily pay more taxes knowing that any kids I have, my family and loved ones where a bit safer.

Anyway back on topic. I agree that attacking a police officer is a very serious offense, these men and women go out there to protect the average person like myself and I can't thank them enough. Footballers aren't heroes... police, ambulance crews, firemen, doctors and nurses are that deal with idiots day after day. Kudos to them! deserve a medal! :D

Agreed whole-heartedly!

Justice in the UK doesn't work. Throw a few bricks at the police and get 5 years, being found guilty of unprovoked serious assault on my 61 year old dad and the bitch got a £200 fine.

justice?
Agreed but the rioting in Bradford got so bad that Judges decided to use harsh sentences to send out the messages that rioting cannot be accepted. Sentences handed out said to be harshest since World War II and I think it seemed to have worked.
