Have to admit, everyone seems to be overlooking the 3700x for the 12 core and 16 core counterparts (understandably tbf) but when you think about the 3700x, it really is one hell of a chip to be doing what its claimed to be doing at only 65w.

the great advantage of 7nm I guess
 
Option 1, but I will be waiting for reviews to see what the best way to go is. Especially interested in real world power draw and probably only for a 6 core as pennies are tight.

Though, is it possible some people like tech reviewers will have the chips earlier?
 
Changed my vote to option 5, i will be buying zen2 as it in itself is a straight up upgrade over my 1700 however i want to see reviews on x370 boards before i decide if i am changing my mobo.

Can confirm that this is an excellent board! From what I hear its even better than some lower end x370 and x470 boards!
 
I've been thinking long and hard about an upgrade.
Currently sitting on a 4770k that I bought from Overclockers in 2014. Recently upgraded the gfx to a Vega56(from a 970). Still able to play AAA games in very high settings to my monitors specifications (Ultrawide, 75hz) and have no requirement for 144hz or 1440p.

My heart is telling me to upgrade, because upgrades are fun and exciting, but my head keeps telling me I have plenty of life left in the old boy yet...

I also find the price point of the x570 boards extremely off-putting, perhaps even a little devious. If and when I upgrade from the 4770k, it would only be to a latest-gen board, and if the manufacturers see me as a easy target I'll happily walk away.
 
I plan on consolidating my 6800K and 1700 (non x) rigs, then upgrading to a 3900x or a 3950x once prices settle down. It'd be nice to think my C6H would run a 3950x as an intermediate step, but i'm expecting a board upgrade as well.

I am currently sharing my 3930k, Vega 64, 48gb RAM based system with my son. I've been trying to work out the best path to get him his own machine and reclaim mine back for my owm use as I can never get to ise it.

I think I am likely to get him a Ryzen 2600 bundle which seem to be cracking value right now, along with a Vega 64 and 16gb RAM. I will then wait for 3700x prices to fall and upgrade my own machine to it in six months. As we will then be on similar platforms I can hand down CPU and GPU's to him each time I upgrade.
 
Absolutely not. Love my Ryzen 2700 can't see any reason to upgrade as I'm GPU bound anyway. I've gone from 4c/8t 7700K to 8c/16t 2700 and Asus X470 pro for less than I paid for the 7700K on its own. What's not to like???
 
whats the consensus about putting a 3600 or 3700 in a b350 board. I have a 1600x in a b350-f, I have been considering treating my self to a upgrade but didntwant to replace my mobo.

Should be fine. You'll lose out on PCIE4 and Precision Boost Overdrive (Precision Boost should be fine if history is anything to go by). But you if you are like most you manually overclock anyway.

That motherboard comfortably overclocks the power hungry 1800X, so can't imagine the 3700X being a problem.
 
When do we get more official info? Thought I remember today was a significant day but may have been dreaming! Are we just waiting for Sunday?
