Poor access time on WD 160GB hard drive.

Hello. I've had a WD1600AAJS 160GB hard drive for just under a year and out of curiosity I've run both HD Tach and HD Tune and I've noticed that my access time is rather poor - about 20ms. Its quoted at 8.9ms. Here are my graphs:





What do you think? Its running on a Jmicron controller on my 965P DS3 mobo.
Could I get it replaced?

That 9ms they state is "average latency" rather than "average seek" which is what we know as the actual access time. 20ms does seem high but looking at the hdtune results page it's not all that uncommon. Have you tested the drive on a different controller?
I don't imagine that you could get it replaced.

Hi. I might try it on the Intel controller tomorrow and see what I get.
