Poor access times

Have noticed that my new 750GB Hitachi is benching at around 18-19ms access time, both in HD Tach and HD Tune. Is this normal? Seems rather slow to me and is far slower than my two 250GB Hitachis in RAID0. NCQ is enabled btw, not sure if this would be the reason?

NCQ is enabled

Desktops perform better with this disabled/turned off generally...

Do you have "write cache" enabled on it?

Have a look in the software/drivers for the SATA controller, also have a look at the entry in Device Manager for the SATA controller for the option to do this.....not all SATA controller give you this option.

If you can't do it through Device Manager then I think Hitachi's Drive Feature Tool lets you do it.
