ive just upgraded from a 6800gt to a 7800gs, every thing else has stayed the same (tho i did reinstall the latest drivers (84.21)just to make sure)

under the 6800gt BF ran smooth , but under the same setting the 7800gs has a low frame rate and very jerky

anyone any ideas what i can do to improve performance

Strange that. The game should run smooth with that card. Have you tried deleting the drivers 'fully' from your pc and then installing the new ones after a re-boot? How about re-installing the game too?

I would uninstall the driver, reboot, run Drivercleaner in safe mode, reboot, then re-install the latest driver.

Hmmm sounds like a driver conflict to me.

However I have a question, why upgrade from a 6800GT to a 7800GS? Doesn't seem that much of a jump to me.

the card in my second machine has give up the gost, so ive moved the 6800gt to it, and put the 7800gs in my main machine.

o and iam not due for a mb/cpu upgrade till next year so couldn't go for for a newer 7900

I have been having stuttering too! But only with Flight Sim 04. The rest have been fine!

hehe, bf2 likes to optermize when ever something to do with graphics has been changed. So delete all the files in this folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

and do what the other posts have said like reinstalling drivers ect and see how that goes!

I'm sorry to say stuttering problems are more likely to be software related problems than hardware related ones, when graphics cards dont work they just show artifacts and sparklies or they just dont do anything, they never really perform like worse (low fps) unless theres a software error.

Well, i may do a full format and install everything fresh. See how that goes first. As i said, only one game i have trouble with which makes me think it is definitely software related.
