******* poor people :(

I'm impressed that you have come to the conclusion it's the surrounding council estates that have bumped your premium up. You mentioned that you lived the same distance from them at your last residence that had cheaper insurance.

I don't quite understand.

Insurance is based upon statistics and trends. The average cost and frequency of a claim is probably higher in your current area, this could be down to any one of the many variables that exist between areas.

His conclusion is his own wild assumption for now given that, when he asked the insurance company if the surrounding area/people were the cause of his insurance increase, they refused to comment.

I asked them if they would confirm it was because of the local council estates, they declined to comment. I asked them to tell me it wasn't because of this (rather than them saying it was) and they declined to comment, and asked me to write to them.

So, for the moment, the OP is doing nothing but throwing wild accusations around without any actual evidence i.e. talking bull ****

I won't apologise for my last comment, it is intentionally said in the same manner as the OP's arrogant posting style

About how you were worried you might get fired only 2 months ago, you'd do well to remember it can take an instant to go from 'not poor' to 'poor' so you'd be well advised to stop demonstrating probably one of the most obnoxious attitudes around here for ages. This thread is just absolutely amazing - the lack of respect for what are probably quite nice people is just... staggering.

This means also educating one's self about the surrounding world and using this knowledge to your advantage, and generally taking yourself to where you want to be.

So you educated yourself before you moved? Obviously didn't otherwise you would have known your insurance would be higher and you wouldn't be here moaning about it.

As an example take bill gates, he's a billionaire, only because he had access to the potential wealth of millions of people through his company, instead of making this man filthy rich the company could have instead sold cheaper goods and services to more people and paid their workers more at the same time, also removing shares would be a good idea as well.

True, granted, but then how many millions of lives may have been lost due to lack of funds from the "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation". There may not have been enough for the current projects that are in place for ending Polio and Malaria or for research into crops for 3rd World countries....

Not everything in life is black and white...

This year I moved from the top of my street to the bottom. The top and bottom half have different postcodes. They are both L27 it is the last 3 digits that are different. When I phoned my car insurance up to tell them I had moved I was told I would have to pay an extra £45 a year. Insurance companies are a law unto themselves.

Insurance companies go by your full postcode. So your insurance hike has nothing at all to with the fact you have a council estate 1/2 a mile away.

I've just moved house and have informed my insurance provider of this.

They want an additional £153.83.

The only reason I can see for this is that there is a council estate within 1/2 a mile and the crime rate for car crime there is phenomenal (according to police.uk), although it's not bad on my actual street/area.

There is also another mass of social housing about 3/4 mile in the other direction.

So, I'd just like to say thanks to the poor/uneducated/moral free/scum/***** ******* who live near by for costing a hard working man an extra £153.83 for which I get literally nothing in return.

Darfur war orphans.

Perspective. You should try it sometime.

shoes, here's one for you! what about, a girl from a family of 8 kids who is raised on a council estate by parents who never worked but she is extremely smart, excels at school and is offered a university place but her parents can't afford it. should she be denied the chance to go to university because of her background?

Nope, but that's how capitalism rolls. It has favoured the better-off since the dawn of time.

No because this wouldn't happen? The less wealthy your parents are the more money you get - you'd be entitled to the maximum loan, you get a fees loan on top AND you get a grant as well.

Couple this with a part time weekend job and anyone can afford to go to Uni. Which is what makes all the whinging about fees even worse - you don't pay that sort of thing back until you are earning.
