just got home tonight and parents told me they had to rush maggie (our choc lab) to the vets.

For a random reason her leg has swollen up to about 4 times its size, about the size of my hand

Vets arnt sure what it is, they just drained loads of fluid from it but its still hooge!

Poor little thing is whining and crying :( :( Feel sorry for her!

(The missing hair is where they took the fluid)

Strange, but I wouldn't worry to much as it's not near anything too vital. (Worst case scenario is probably amputation (:() but animals tend to cope well with those things. )

I'm surprised your Vet couldn't tell you what's wrong though, when I did work experience they seemed to be able to diagnose most things fairly easily in animals.

over the years she has had a lot of problems with her toes been inflated etc (some type of problem she has)

She even had to have her little toe taken off on that foot :(

she is on double strength anit biotics

Now this morning she won't eat her breakfast and she just keeps crying really loud

makes me feel bad as i can't do anything for her :(

Looks just like my girlfriend's dog.

Love labs, can't help but feel sorry for any animal in pain really.

Hope you find out what it is soon. Have the vets said anything more about it or got any suggestions about what else can be done?

Hope she get's better soon and they find out what it is.

Lovely looking dog by the way :)

Aw thanks, shes crying on that photo though :(

A lab off food can't be good. I hope she gets well soon. Has she had any other symptoms? Is the leg hot? You mentioned that she had her little toe amputated, was it for similar reasons?

Sorry, I'm in a medical mood today :p (Dons, I hope it's ok to have more info about this!)

Get well soon Maggie!

Ah no, hope she's okay mate, horrible worrying about your dog. Our old labs 16 now and hardly moves from her bed other than to eat and do her business.

tom_nieto with her toe she kept getting blister type things inbetween her toes and one got infected,it was either take the toe or wait for it to go up the leg

Man, that looks nasty. Looks like the swelling that my Sister's dog had when he got a rose thorn stuck in his leg. No-one knew about it until it became infected and swelled up. The vet pulled it out amd after course of a anti-biotics he was fine.

Hope it's as simple and she gets better soon.

Hope she pulls through mate, we lost our little cocker spaniel late last year and the place isn't right without her :( (Plus we have to hoover more now cos their isn't a canine vacuum eating all the bits of food that get dropped :p)
