OCUK Fire Investigation. :D

It had been a particularly hot day and there was little to no wind. I believe that the owner turned the car off without letting the turbo cool down after a good thrash. The turbo was still glowing red/white and as it was parked, there was no air flow around the engine. This caused the aluminium bonnet to droop under the extreme heat. Unfortunately there was no shild on the battery terminals causing it to come into contact with the bonnet. This caused an explosion rupturing the fuel line which caught fire.

However I don't want to speculate really. ;)

yep, left hand side as you face the engine from the front, I think it was more of a jab at the NR3 failing regularly than an accurate reason for the fire ;)

Yep. As said, the reason is often attributed to heat from the turbo along with other factors like poor oil circulation. But given the SN tendancy to bang on about the things failing...

The Guy who owns this car posts on SIDC - apparantly petrol was poured into the vent and set alight sometime early in the morning.

The poor guy is gutted as he has lost a lot of stuff and was lucky that no further damage was done to the house or people inside as they were asleep at the time..

Just hope they find who did this, if anyone by chance has any information that might help please let me know and I will pass it on..

Some guy on Rovertech bought an Evo about a year ago.

He was away at Uni and some scrote tried nicking it (there's a weakness in the standard alarm and doing something simple can short it - not going to say it on here).

Because the car had an aftermarket alarm, the thief ended up shorting the wires together which in turn set part of his car alight.
