Hi, i seem to have an issue with some new seagate 7200.10 (320gb) drives i have installed.

I have configured them in a striped raid0 array with 32k stripes using my nivida raid controller on my asus a8n deluxe board.

The raid drivers are slipstreamed into my XP install using nlite as i dont have a floppy drive.

Here is a screen from HD TACH showing their performance:

As you can see they are not reaching their full potential :(

They are not jumpered, iv'e tried new sata cables, tryed swapping sata ports and i have disabled read caching on both drives.

Cant think of what else to try

Iv'e done a full install of nvidia 6.86 nforce drivers and i said yes to the IDE SW driver as well.

Disabled write caching as well now and i get a higher burst:

but read speed is still very poor

Still having problems with the raid speed, so i disabled raid and installed windows to run HD tach on each drive.

First drive that windows was running from was getting 41mb/sec average read
The other one gets 65Mb/sec.

Does it sound normal? i was not running any apps or anything while i was doing the tests.

Just swapped the drives around so that the slow one was not the OS drive anymore. Still got the same result..

Here is the slower one:

And the other:

Guess this explains why my raid was so slow, the system kept waiting for the other drive to catch up.
