Poor SSD performance

I've just built my SB rig, with an Asus P67P8, P500K and a Kingston SSDNow V-Series SSD pulled from my Macbook Pro.

Everything seems to be running OK, but it doesn't seem to have the same dramatic effect on boot/application load times as it did on the Mac.

I also noticed that windows performance index only gives it a 5.9.

It is plugged into a SATA 6gb/s port on the motherboard, however at boot that SATA controller indicates that it is achieving 1.5Gb/s.

Any suggestions? Is there a setting I need to change somewhere, is the drive broken or is it really just not that great?

Would it be possible that the SSD's SATA interface can't make use of the 6gb? (that's more of a question actually than an answer :P)

I doubt it is 6gb/s, as it isn't a recent SSD.

Just run HDTune.

Tfr rate:
Min: 33.3 MB/s
Max: 105.7 MB/s
Avg: 94.5MB/s

Access Time: 0.2ms
Burst: 1647 MB/sec
CPU: -1%
