I need a bit of advice,i`m experiencing a pop up problem,iv`e ran norton and spyware programme and iv`e also turned up my pop up settings but still no joy,and i really don`t want to reinstall windows again, any ideas?

install 'a squared', it pretty much blocks anything and everything. theres a 30 day trial for version 4 but theres also a 3.5 free version with some features limited.

This is generally the stage when people pop up (heh) with their differing opinions of various anti-malware apps. (For the record, Avast! and COMODO is the way to go for a free and bulletproof system, but I digress...)

What are you running? IE? FF? Chrome? Tried-and-trusted Firefox with AdBlock+ (and NoScript, if you're sensible) is the way to go. In my opinion.

It was for a mate, he was using ie explorer and norton... suspect he was on some dodgy site. Anyway i told him to use firefox and nod 32... did i do good?

Yeah, certainly i'd advise Firefox over IE anyday. And as Snograt mentioned, install the Adblock Plus addon, it's easy to find on the mozilla site.

For anybody who wants to experience the ultimate in adblocking you need Admuncher. I've used it for years [one of the few apps I've bought!]. Try it and you won't believe the amount of ads and popups that get past adblock.

Jimbo, two proggies called Hijack This and Spybot Search and Destroy both run in safe mode will probably give rig a good clean oot. What everyone else is suggesting as a future prevention is all good advice :)
