The managers at my dads company went abroad for some business and as they needed to the airport and their car wasnt suitable, they took his mondeo and hes got one of their cars for a week, a porshe boxter.

It looks nice and the sound of the engine is good and there is power in it (I assume is a 2.5 or 2.7 flat 6) but overal I am not impressed. He is 6ft 5 and is cramped in the seat, the ride is hard and the seats arent wide enough, even for me (im not as chubby as him lol). Also the interior looks cheap.
What the rest of you think of the boxter?

poor man's 911 overall, but some of the later models are meant to be a laugh I thought.

How many sportscars comfortably accommodate a large 6'5" gentleman anyway?

poor man's 911 overall

No.

Its a completely different car aimed at a different market. They are a decent ride (IMO), and the harsh suspension is par for the course for a sportscar.

What let me down was the build quality of the interior.

I've never really made my mind up about them tbh.

Depends which year and engine you buy.

I did think the dash was very poorly made and fitted.

As for it being a poor mans 911... hmm...

Oh christ, not the "poor mans 911" thing again. Was the 355 a "poor mans Ferrari" when it came out? Is the 530i the "poor mans M5"

Tosh.

Yea the engine in that one was deffo broken!

Other major issue was, black dash, seats, carpet, roof, etc too dark inside made it look cheaper still somehow.

I really can't understand why idiots like to call it a "poor man's Porsche"... :/ I mean brand new they were over £30k and the S & S Sport was over £40k - not exactly aimed at the minimum wage lot is it :/ What a load of tosh.

It's a fantastic sports car, especially the 3.2L/3.4L S. It's not a 911, it's a Boxster a model in it's own right.

Harsh branding by calling it the poor man's 911, and it will always be called that by people who don't think about it!

If you're going to use such ridiculous answers, any car is pretty much a "poor man's something else" As said, 530i > M5, 330i > M3, next you'll be labelling the A4 as the "poor man's RS4" Mondeo as the "Poor Man's X/S-Type" etc..

It is what it is, just because Porsche don't do a massive range of "models" doesn't make the thirty thousand + pound car, a poor man's anything!

Hard ride, as said, is par for the course!

poor man's 911 overall

You don't half spout a load of old tosh ;)

Have to say I wasn't impressed with the non "S" Boxter, not enough power in a decent chassis, if I was going for one it would have to be an "S".

Overall I think the "S" variant is a decent motor but they are pretty expensive TBH.
