I tend to buy a new phone every 5, sometimes even 8 years. As a result when I do i can afford to spend a lot more than normall. Which is great!

The only two phones that interest me are the Porsche 9522 Black Edition, and the iPhone 4.

Im trying to decide between the two, i ought to update my contract too really, i get 0 free online time for example.

I only use a phone online for google and for facebook, currently im using a nokia 6300 and its text only (plus small pics) so can be quite hard work, but i like the look of it, which is why i am attracted to the Porsche Design.

Im guessing the iphone wins here but has anyone used either and what do they think of them ?

NO HOTLINKING

The iPhone will be better supported in the long run. The Porsche Design phone is more style than substance like most designer phones, I recommend you to try it out before you seriously consider it. I play around with the Dior phone a while back whilst it is very desirable its functionality is very questionable in addition to the price point.

Forget the Porsche phone, it will be absolute garbage compared to the iPhone 4.

You sound like a complete 'poser', which isn't really a surprise. :(

This.

What 25 yr old keeps a phone for 5-8years anyway. Sound a bit like intentional 'look at me' syndrome.

Thing is, in 12-months time, it doesn't matter if it was a designer phone at the time of purchase anyway, no-one who "cares" about posers will "care" about that phone anyway. Muchlike that Prada phone that came out a few years back, 6-months down the line we (I work for Envirofone) were buying them in for a pittance, AND they were crap phones to boot.

Flawed logic is flawed.

Get on a contract change every 12-18 months. Job done.

With the Porsche it's telling that I had to trawl through a page of links to find anything more detailed than how it is milled from solid Aluminium and is a style icon.

This is the first review I came across and scathing is the word.

Or how about this from Wired:
Even if you’re in a Wi-Fi hotspot, you’d be better off mugging some blogger for his MacBook
than surfing the web using the horribly inaccurate touchscreen and knife-thin keys.
And that touchscreen? It’s worse than any other touch-sensitive display we’ve ever used.

For usability the iPhone will be worlds ahead.

That porsche design phone looks more like a 10 year old sony erricson painted black.

I am far from an Iphone fanboy but come on this is daft. The one thing these two devices have in common is they are aimed at posers and people who don't actually like tech.

IPhone.. than again that's a bit of posers phone anyway. Just that it works in. Every situation.. no I have a HTC by the way

I think the OP is looking for a phone that will serve the OP well for the next 5-8 years.

The iPhone is (some people may argue) a smartphone & I'm sure iTunes will still support iPhone4 5-8 years from now.
The Porsche has nothing more than simple phone functionality (think old school Nokia), I personally would not pay a £1,000 for a Sagem.

If all the OP wants is a simple phone (non-smartphone device), but prefers high end then a Vertu would be something to consider, plus it would still be worth some money in 5 odd years time.

iPhone 4 + grey InCase Slider (£9 from the bay) = win.

Doubt it will last 8 years... Though it will last 18months and have a resale value of £200+
