I use a 2TB 2.5" Portable Toshiba drive as Media drive. But it videos played off it all stutter. Never had this with any other drive. Can't find any model number but the firmware returned does seem to find a few matches. AY000U

Any suggestions how to fix the stuttering? Other than replacing the drive.

Not saying too much here but I own two external Toshiba drives and I have had issues with both, warranty is also a no go because Toshiba doesn't care.

I'll have to use it purely as backup, unless I can stop it stuttering. I assume its some sort of caching its doing.

Try doing a health check on it to see if it is failing as that could be the cause, have you also tried some other media players? Plenty of free ones out there so might be worth giving it a try.

i have a virtually new toshiba 1tb external drive and have the same problems.

Watching videos directly from it is a complete no go, its takes forever to load the thumbnails up as does playing the videos and when they finally do play they stutter like mad and my mouse stops functioning completely until i have alt f4'd the media player.

No errors. I use it through two different TV's both have the same effect. My other drives even USB drives work fine even with very large files. This drive however stutters with everything.

I have a couple of external Toshiba 1T 2.5in drives I use to expand the storage on my Humax with out any issues and they feel a little bit quicker when playing back the recordings compared to the internal drive. If not a bad drive it may be a usb power issue.
