Portable External

Looking to buy one but not sure which, going to be used to back-up important files.
Are the Western Digitals the best since they are the most expensive and I noticed you get a 5 year warranty with the studio editions?
Want one with firewire and must be at least 300GB.

Thanks for any recommendations.

We use some of the WD's at work for backups of CAD & GIS workstations etc - they are very good but on the Studio edition you pay a premium for the additional interfaces, we use eSATA and the Firewire 800 both are very good. This one is prob best bet from OcUK, but I'm fairly sure you can also get them without the eSATA (so just USB & FW 400/800) which might be cheaper but can't see them here.

Yes, I'm sure that'll be a good choice and have the same quality as their desktop cousins!

Yep, the passport drives are very good. I've been through several as I ran out of space, no problems with any.
