Any recommendations? Not planning on going sky diving with it or anything but I dont want anything thats gonna fill up with dust and die or something :P

I know that having no moving parts is a bonus as far as needing something rugged but theyre not fantastically reliable in my experience since the one I had died after a week of use :P and the price limits the storage space.

Im looking for something around the 500gb area so SSD isnt really suitable.

So far Ive seen the Freecom Toughdisc which can be found for a more reasonable price from other sellers as I found with a quick google search. Theres also a Lacie Rugged USB Disc which can be found for even slightly less!

Trouble is though I dont know if theyre any good :| Or if theres any better products out there.

i got 2 of them they are in an rubber casing (mine is) and it uses an laptop hdd (2.5 Freecom Toughdisc) so they bounce an little when they hit the ground (as mine did :) )

if it is an Full desktop hdd then dropping or Vibrations is not recommneded when in use (any hdd realy)

if the HDD is not spinning the head is norm parked so drops and Vibrations are norm not an problem as much

Yeah, I read a few reviews of the Freecom one and it seems to bounce well.

The Lacie one also looks ok, possibly faster too but it has exposed ports :/ so crap might get in there.

Havent found any others though
