Also... i'm using a canon a85, are there any other lenses i can purchase for this as i'm feeling a little limited at the moment.

Dont think so mate, its a compact aka non removeable lenses. Nice pics though esp the one with the sun reflection on the water :D
 
oh I lie, I just had a browse. you can get some conversion lenses for it

Wide-angle lens WC-DC52
0.8X wide converter brings wide end down to 24.5 mm. LA-DC52C conversion lens adapter required.

Telephoto lens TC-DC52
2.4X teleconverter gives you a 252 mm tele end. Requires LA-DC52C adapter.

Close-up lens 250D
Get closer to your subject while in macro mode. Requires LA-DC52C adapter.

Conversion lens adapter LA-DC52C
Required for conversion lenses. Also lets you use any 52 mm filter.
 
I've got a 2x extension for the A80

Works nicely - however there's a slight issue with them. You get a tube effect *can't remember the proper name* around the edges so you have to be at something like 50% zoom on the camera to eliminate most of that.

That said - it's a good little extra.

Mine was something like £50 with the extension tube and a polarising filter. Nothing too much.

Simon, the effect you mean I think is vignetting.

I'm still around - just not doing any more F1 stuff *apart from the odd photo... ;)*

Took some example shots that I'll sort out tomorrow for you to take a look at.

A80 - no zoom
A80 - max zoom
A80 + 2x lens - no zoom
and finally
A80 + 2x lens - full zoom

Lens is a bit dirty from the repairs I've done on it so expect a couple of smudges - but they'll do for examples.

Thanks flibster, i guess the lense i will be looking to get will be the same as the one you are using (a85 a85 etv... same body).

Anyone else have any comments about my pics?

Also... i'm thinking of saving up for a dslr, i was looking at the s3 is as i dont want to start spending silly money on something i may lose interest in!
 
Yea i like that, so how much am i looking at to get a 2x lense then?

I was also looking at the fisheye and a polarized filter which add some more functionality.
 
Just looked on the bay.

Looks like the 2x lenses are around £30-40

However - there's a couple of bundles that look interesting.
Tokina 3x Telephoto Digital Conversion Lens
Titanium 0.42x Super Wide-angle Panoramic Fisheye Lens
4 Piece Macro Kit +1 +2 +4 +10
and the adaptor kits

£115

Couple of the 2.5x lenses seem to be going for £20ish...

With all of them *that I looked at* you will have to ship them in from abroad though.
