Can you port your number to O2 after you've signed up? The help on the O2 website implies you can, but all the internet vendors say you can't -- it has to be done at the point of sale.

So, have O2 changed the way they do porting? Or does it only apply to deals bought through the O2 website?

I've found a deal at mobileshop that matches my requirements, but mobileshop charge a £10 administration fee for porting to O2. I'd like to avoid that if I can!

I also asked Mobileshop about this, and from their reply (in case anyone else finds wants to know)

...for us to set up this number port for you we do charge £10
for the service and would require the Pac number at the point of ordering.

You do have the option of doing it yourself by contacting O2 direct after the order has been received, but it needs to be done within 7 days of connection for this port to be able to take place, any later and o2 won't accept this number port.

I brought my phone from orange and ported my number after a month with no problems.

Best just to ring the network as they would be in a better position to advise you, the mobile phone shops will charge you but the mobile operator's may not if you are out of contract.
