If you saw someone spinning things like socks around in a park or wherever would you think they were posing or just chilling out?

Something like this -

I ask this because I do it and im not a poser at all (far from it) I just find it relaxing and a skill that takes time to learn but when you do its very enjoyable. I get annoyed at people saying/thinking "look at her/him spinning around showing off" As you could say that about most things like football kickups etc

I generally think poser.

The only place they are acceptable is on a thai beach where the rules stipulate they must also be on fire.

My girlfriend does it, and it's awesome. She's been teaching me how to do it, and can do some basics :)
She does it with fire, dont think I'll give thta a go just yet.
No its not posing, just like Rollerblading isn't people who want to look like they are running fast :P

How long has she been spinning for and long long have you been learning if you dont mind me asking. Ive been trying to teach myself for about 2 months and can do 3 and 4 beat weave, fountains, a couple of flowers and some wraps/air wraps. cant do anything behind the back yet though. great fun, beats the computer and complicated games!

you should try it, its fun :)

(i wouldnt say im 'trendy') and the fire circle i go to people are far from it!

i dont see it as particularly poser-ish, although i cant see it's particularly entertaining, i've seen a LOT of people doing poi, and can see the attraction doing it, but not watching it

Shes been doing it for 5 years, maybe a bit more I think, so shes kinda good at it. Did it in nightclubs for a while during her Hard Trace type days :p
I only had a few sessions our last holiday while on the beach, I get bored laying on the beach and she loves tanning, so she gave me toys to keep me occupied.
I dont know the propper words for them I'm afraid, but the spinny fast thingy at the sides to the front I can do, then the thingy where you make then spin Criss Cross in front of you and then into a twirl over your head, but most tried ended up in me getting hit in the nuts.

Abraham - your right, after a while I get bored watching other people but its ok for the first few minutes

Seek -dont judge a book by its cover!
