Positives in this...?

I wouldn't be too happy about it. One of my friends shared in first year though, and he loved it, although he was gay and majorly "in love" with his room mate :p.

My ex was put in a twin room in halls and ended up getting his room mate to switch out with one of his friends. They kept each other up a lot playing games and listening to music etc, it got pretty bad and both of them were failing, so my ex moved home near the start of term 2. I don't know if it's just a co-incidence or that was common, but the next year the uni stopped offering twin rooms.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to get it correct in the first place either, does it? ;)

very true. im thick but i didnt take the thread off topic with it :)

as for OP id really try and get put somewhere else. see if someone doesnt turn up or something.

Well thats a bit crap.

Oh and just to rub salt in the wound, you're liable for the whole room cost if your room mate drops out!

Not even letting agencies are that bad, they normally go for the guarantor first.

It says that he is liable to pay the single room rate, not the double.

Their terminology is quite scary. They really should say a "Twin" room.

I was a bit confused/thick at first when I read the thread! Doesn't stop them sneaking over for surprise secks though! (I didn't go to uni so have no idea how it all works!)

I would NEVER share a room in uni. No privacy, having to be considerate to you're room mate about music etc, it would probably kill me.

This is where I am confused.

In the accomodation booklet it states that some places have twin rooms, it says double in my email though.

Because this place doesn't even exist on the website I don't know how the rooms are layed out.

room ----- shared toilet ------ room

maybe?

or we both live in the same room with a shared toilet or even no toilet.

If its a girl I wouldn't mind about any "suprises" though :D

Just to make things even more strange on "The Student Room", I said that I canny even remember it being in the list on the online application and some one else who has been given the same accomodation has said it wasn't on there. Ill ring up tomorrow though and find out what the hell is going on.

Because I know what to expect from when I was at Bangor I thought I could make it even better for myself this time around but if this happens its going to be pretty annoying.

I don't want some bloke watching me put away my boxers when I get there.

I've not had to share a room myself but I've got friends who did and it wasn't recommended by them. It can also prove rather awkward should you bring someone back, it certainly put me off knowing that the girls roommate was in the next bed, that and I'm stupid in not reading the signs correctly at the time. I'm aware now that the correct course of action would have been to wake up the roommate and ask her for a threesome but what can I say, I was young, naive, innocent and stupid - a potent combination.

How do you know you are sharing a room with someone?

A "double room" could just mean you get a double bed.

Edit: Nvm I should read the whole thread!

From this...

We realise that you may prefer to be in a single room, but unfortunately it has not been possible to place you in a single room this time. As you are in a double room please be aware that if the other person leaves at anytime during the year you will be liable to pay the single room rate for the room for the remainder of the year.

It would also seem that Aber tell you what room you are in etc when you pick up your keys.

This place gets more messed up every minute.
