Possible 680gtx problem

Hi all, my 680gtx has started playing up. I'm assuming it's the graphics card because i've tried another one and it was fine.

The problem i have is that it's not always being detected in the pci slot. It will be working fine one minute, then a couple of hours later when i try to boot up the computer, nothing. I then have to use the onboard graphics.

Anyone else had this or any ideas what could be causing it???

Also i fitted an arctic cooler a few months back so i'm i right in saying my warranty is void??

Hi and welcome to the forums

Unless the cards is EVGA, yes, you warranty will be technically void. However, if you stick the original cooler on, then chances are, if done properly, they won't be able to tell the original cooler has been removed

Troubleshooting steps:

-New drivers, get rid of the old ones using driver sweeper
-Try a different PCIe slot
-Try card in another machine

Finally, which PSU do you have?

Hi cleeecooo. The psu is an ocz zs 650w, which at first i thought was at fault. But that was fine with the amd card i tried.

I've tried both pci slots and a clean driver install but no joy. Really need to try it in another system to be sure.

Just seems strange how one minute it works then nothing.

I presume there's no noticeable damage to the copper strips that go in the pcie slot on the card.

As you say though another system would be good to totally rule out your own system.

If possible make sure the 2 power leads that go into the GPU are separate cables from the PSU. (if that makes sense). Good luck and happy xmas
