Possible Asus RT-N66U Issue

Cheers mate, well im getting a router from plusnet with my connection so i might try that out first and see what sort of speeds im getting then connect the Asus and do a comparison.

Just hoping that i dont suffer from any issues regarding speed like you are having, saying that i hope you get it sorted out mate.
 
Will applying this non stock firmware invalidate the guarantee of the router?

If there's an issue I'll have to RMA it.

If it doesn't void the guarantee what is the best, or most stable, version to get?

The reason I'm reluctant to use the non stock firmware is that I'm not the most technical of people and I'm frightened of bricking the router.

You will be fine, I'm on Infinity with a RT-N66U and uptime is currently 130 days, not a single drop or reboot. A million times better than BT's Homehub

I think warranty is void once you change fw but you can go back to the Asus fw if needed.

I have had the Merlin fw install since day 1 of purchasing my rt-n66u and not had any problems and have around 15 devices connected and running 24/7.

If you don't mind me asking Rensin, what version of the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware are your running with?

From what I understand 3.0.0.4.270.24 is the latest final release.

Hello

I'd just like to thank everybody for your help.

I'm not sure what the issue was but suddenly, as if by magic, according to Thinkbroadband and Speedtest.net I'm now getting what I would expect, i.e. 120+Mbps down and 11+Mbps up, even through the router.

Very odd indeed. Must have been those technical gremlins.

I'll keep on eye on things and run regular tests to ensure it continues to perform, but signs are good.
