Possible Black Ops 2 info...

It's not just that though, they (IW/Sledgehammer/whoever) have shown zero interest in actually addressing the issues with the game and I doubt they ever will. Just look at the latest patch for BF3 which has hundreds of tweaks and fixes in a single patch, where as I'd be surprised if there has been that many fixes in both MW2 & MW3 combined since their launch. How many title updates for MW3 are we up to now, 10? As well as triple that amount in hotfixes and the game is still a total mess.

IW and Treyarch have both had their last chances with MW3 and Black Ops and as it stands now they won't be seeing another penny from me where Call of Duty is concerned. I will not say never though because Treyarch could actually surprise us all and actually make the best Call of Duty to date, but I didn't like Black ops one bit and I really have no desire to play the next version of it either, so it will have to be something really special to actually make me fork up the money for it and even then it will be a second hand purchase.

It will be highly unlikely that it will be any good though, so to even make me consider buying the game it would need to have smooth lag free gameplay, with decent well laid out maps and the best balanced weapons/perks to date with zero bull****, but what I have just described is a pipe dream that is never going to happen :p

Anyone remember when C&C was no longer going to be patched thanks to EA?

Jesus, those were the days, games supported years after release. DLC was a thought right at the back of the minds of dev's. Smooth running fair games was the up most piority.

God, my hatred for CoD is unreal haha. Utter tripe.

Saying that, playing through CoD2 slowly at the moment on the hardest setting for the acheivements, loving it!

Played 1 SP mission of MW3, unbareable.

Loved it even though Vet took me two years until I found out the easy way to get in the german HQ on the level you have to take 5 areas :D

Nope, it doesn't matter what the end product is like it's all about keeping the shareholders happy and MW3 did just that.

Of course it matters what the end product is like, if you upset the gamers you can only keep the shareholders happy for one year. Pumping out drivel and a hated game like MW3 yeah it keeps the shareholders happy for that year but if you upset the buying public your shareholders don't stay happy if people lose interest.

The end product matters.

The problem is the majority of CoD players aren't really gamers. They want the boost a deathstreak gives, the free kill of last stand. They want to camp four kills then hide in a corner while their pointstreak award does the rest of the work for them. CoD isn't a gamers game any more, its an easy pick up and play title.

That's true but the end product still matters. Competitive balanced gameplay is dead. Xbox live has spawned into game after game trying to emulate pick up and play games for kids that no one has to practice hard to get good or compete on a level playing field.

Gears is the perfect example of a game that is essentially balanced and takes skill to master the weapons and game play. It's dead. Yeah it's still in the top 10 but the actual numbers playing are terrible. Which makes me wonder how many people outside of COD are actually bothering online anymore. It's lazy brain out gaming. Fine if that's what the people want they will give it to them.

Personally myself I hate xbox live, it took me 5 years to come to the conclusion ;) but I'd rather play alone unless it's co-op game play or team games like Horde, survival like L4D etc, GRAW games where you had to clear out all the AI. I find that aspect of live excellent, other than that there are so few shooters that are balanced and require practice.

My fav shooters on the 360 have been R6V, Graw, Gears and Call Of Juarez. None of them required perks, killstreaks or any other method to get a drop on the enemy. You got better by learning the guns and maps.

I though am a dinosaur, my type of gaming has been destroyed on xbox live.

I'm not rushing out to buy COD this year but i'm going to keep an eye on it and see what people think before deciding about buying it.
If it turns out to actually be decent(MW1 or MW2 decent) then i'll get it. If it turns out to be a horrible mess like MW3 then i'll avoid it.

You will still get it on launch day, guaranteed!
When the hype starts to build you will hand over your pennies, play for a week and vent :p

I'm looking forward to it. Blops has been the most balanced cod since MW1. No death streaks and no quick scoping idiots!

+1 , i am also looking forward to Blops 2. I thought maps in blops were 10 times better compare to MW3 maps. As you said no death streaks, no quick scoping and slightly less damage model with some decent maps will do the trick.

Escort, a new game mode similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed. The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.

Counter-Strike much?

Counter-Strike much?

It's a live player though, not AI controlled, so it's much more like Guardian in Gears of War in that regard, but with control points to win rounds.

It doesn't interest me. I've gradually played less and less of the Call of Duty games since Call of Duty 4 online, and whilst I see their purpose and how people can enjoy them without the need for an attention span, all too often the games are now targeted towards the lowest common denominator of video gamers.

Sadly Call of Duty has now become a game that is popular to hate, which I don't understand, I want people to play and love it and despite what I may think of the games declining qualities, it still brings money in to the games sector and gets more and more of peoples interest with games and gaming in general.

I just hope it has a much better SP campaign than Black Ops did which was notoriously poor. It's also the only game I've ever seen voted onto the best and worst video game endings ever (you can guess which one was voted by the general public.)

One thing that this thread seems to have skipped over is the actual leak...

I don't see what any Activision employee would gain from posting the game details on an official forum. There would be no money to be made from doing so and only likely disciplinary action.

So is it just a fan's wish list? Passed off as to make it look official?

Or is it a PR stunt, to get people talking about it.
But given how big the franchise is, I wouldn't think they need to rely on something like this when creating a big song and dance about it would get people to look at it anyway.

yet you brought 3 - and are wondering why ? WHAT?!?! you clearly didn't learn after BO and im sure your be first out of the gates to buy BO2.

I liked black Ops. Personally I think it's the best one. Gimmie black Ops with new maps, no deathstreaks, no last stand or second chance. and the ability to choose the order I call in my deathstreaks as in mw3

Sorry where did I bring them from? And no I won't be buying anymore Call of Duty games, just the same as I said I would never buy a DLC map pack for them and to date I don't own a single one.

MW2 was bought because it was a fun game, I've enjoyed all 43 days I've put into it over the years and I still do enjoy going online with it.
Black Ops I gave a chance because I had never played a Treyarch game before and it turned out I didn't like it, so no I won't be the 'first out the gates' to buy it as you put it.
MW3 was bought because it was supposed to be based off of MW2 which I loved so of course I was going to buy it, since how much can they screw up a game they already made? the answer to that question would be a lot.

So I've been fooled once buying a game from an unknown developer, but how else would I know if I liked the game unless I actually tried it for myself? and I've been fooled once buying a game from a known developer and it was the sequel to one of my most played games in the last 5 years so of course it was getting bought upon the assumption that it would be MW2 but with improvements, new maps, weapons, perks and killstreaks. Unfortunately though the core of the game was broken with crap spawns and terrible netcode.

So in short I bought and loved MW2, Black Ops was unknown to me so I gave it a try and didn't like it and MW3 was mean't to be MW2, but with improvements and unfortunately it wasn't. So yes I'm sure I'll be one of the first to buy something that I know for a fact I won't like.

Welcome back!

Your absence was noticed :)

Sorry I should have elaborated more but the basic statement I made is true the product works and the masses are playing and they will every year but to the 1 in 50 (as an example) who state it doesn't work this would make a small majority of the total users of that product, it's a fact that people that have a problem with a product air their views far more than people that are satisfied with a product unless the service is far greater than what was expected, and in the world of Cod the release date is the same every year and the gameplay is the same every year (again bar the small majority that don't think it is) so you will here less and less of the complacent majority airing views.

Again if the user base increases year on year then the complacent majority increases along with the small (which it still is against sales) majority of unsatisfied users. I bet if everyone who ever played MW3 gave an opinion on how it played any talk of lag compensation etc. would be lost to the masses and no fixes would have been issued at all.

My context for "doesn't matter what the end product is like" was based on the opinion of the small majority

In the case of COD the end product is fine (and has been since launch) looking from a sales point of view.
