Whilst I'm currently in limbo, so as to speak, as to whether to order a new comp now or wait until Sandy Bridge and see what's around the corner, and how this may effect prices etc... I thought I'd try and put something together, and see what I might get if I could get something now, and what you guys think about it.
The main aim for me is to have something reasonably quiet (at the moment), that can do everything I need, and looks good. Also I want the ability to upgrade in future. The case I've chosen, I'm pretty set on, but I'm also quite sure it will last me a good few builds beyond this one.
I'll be running Dual Screen most likely, and have the screens already, so they do not need to be budgeted in, but at the moment my budget is about £700 excluding OS/Screens, although you could easily take that as a £600 budget without having to include a case.
What I want to use the computer for:
Playing games (mostly stuff from Call of Duty - nothing much more intensive than that)
Photo and Video editing (Photoshop and Premiere CS4) - Now I don't use these so much, they really are a small side hobby that I indulge in very occasionally.
Work (shouldn't be an issue)
Blu-ray compatibility - have now got to a stage where I'm building a nice collection of blu-ray disks that I'd like to be able to watch on my computer.
I'm also looking for something that I can easily upgrade in the future - Graphics card in particular I might upgrade to SLI for better support of games in future and a better ability to possibly multi-task stuff in future - CoD on one screen, Work/Msn/Music player up on another....
Anyway, this is the build I've come up with so far (£700.36)
I also may mod this in future, and at the moment this is very much stage one picking parts, will probably be a long labour of love and checking even more reviews etc... to work out which parts to go for, but I thought I'd take any suggestions for now
Thanks for reading all of this!
