Whilst I'm currently in limbo, so as to speak, as to whether to order a new comp now or wait until Sandy Bridge and see what's around the corner, and how this may effect prices etc... I thought I'd try and put something together, and see what I might get if I could get something now, and what you guys think about it.

The main aim for me is to have something reasonably quiet (at the moment), that can do everything I need, and looks good. Also I want the ability to upgrade in future. The case I've chosen, I'm pretty set on, but I'm also quite sure it will last me a good few builds beyond this one.

I'll be running Dual Screen most likely, and have the screens already, so they do not need to be budgeted in, but at the moment my budget is about £700 excluding OS/Screens, although you could easily take that as a £600 budget without having to include a case.

What I want to use the computer for:
Playing games (mostly stuff from Call of Duty - nothing much more intensive than that)
Photo and Video editing (Photoshop and Premiere CS4) - Now I don't use these so much, they really are a small side hobby that I indulge in very occasionally.
Work (shouldn't be an issue)
Blu-ray compatibility - have now got to a stage where I'm building a nice collection of blu-ray disks that I'd like to be able to watch on my computer.
I'm also looking for something that I can easily upgrade in the future - Graphics card in particular I might upgrade to SLI for better support of games in future and a better ability to possibly multi-task stuff in future - CoD on one screen, Work/Msn/Music player up on another....

Anyway, this is the build I've come up with so far (£700.36)

I also may mod this in future, and at the moment this is very much stage one picking parts, will probably be a long labour of love and checking even more reviews etc... to work out which parts to go for, but I thought I'd take any suggestions for now :)

Thanks for reading all of this!

Yeah the graphics card was probably the first thing I would have upgraded, so might look into just spending the extra £15 now.

Might also look at a possible replacement fan, guess I could do with more opinions/reasons to change them over?

Well the Fenrir is regarded as one of the best Heatsinks in the £30-40 range. Then fan on it is very quiet and it does a great job of keeping temps down. I'll have a look for some reviews of it for you.

Also, I'm speaking from experience as I have one myself. Keeps my i7 at 70 degrees in Prime at 4.1ghz

you can drop the 1TB drive to a 500 Gb F3 and use perhaps the Gelid Tranquilo which is a very good cooler.

Definately get the 460 over the 450.

Great spec apart from that 450. I love that case! 460 will be a great choice for now, then add another later as you've wisely picked an SLI mobo and suitable PSU.

Ok, well think I'll probably go with the 460 and possibly look into STI'ing it later, I'm looking at the possibility of the Fenrir, and think I'll stick with the 1TB as it's only about £10 cheaper or something for the 500gb.

I guess the other question is, as I'll probably be slowly getting the parts, should I look into waiting until SandyBridge is out, and see what is around then? I'm looking at possibly getting everything but the CPU fan/CPU and MoBo, over the course of the next few months by which time SB might be out, and I might look into a different CPU/MoBo set up?

Thanks for the help so far guys

Well if the i5 2500K and a suitable P67 mobo come in at a similar price to i5 760 it will make a great choice. I bet it'll be a bit more expensive, but wait and see if you can stand the wait. Looking at SB test benches there wont be much in it, so if you buy now you very likely wont be disapponted at all.

Ok, this is the revised build I guess, not looking to make too many tweaks to this in future, apart from maybe STI cards (which I just want to check the PSU will support) and I may add in an SSD when they're cheaper and I have more cash xD
