Possible faulty 290X?

Hi,

So, back in December 2014 I bought 3 x Powercolor reference 290X cards.

For one reason or another it took me a while to getting around to installing them, and even then I'm only using 1 of them (I might have bought 2 Fury X cards during that time).

So I did a quick check in GPU-z and found the card with the highest ASIC value and decided to use that one.
I've recently been noticing graphical glitching even on the Windows desktop. In games Alt-Tabbing to the Windows desktop and back can sometimes fix it. It's usually quite minor and pretty inconsistent (it can go days without issue), so it's hard to test.

I updated the drivers, didn't help. Changed the DVI cable for an HDMI cable, didn't help.
I've now switched it out for the 2nd highest ASIC card and so far I've not noticed the issue, but it could just be not showing up for now.

So to me it seems like an issue with the GPU, but I'm not sure if it's even in warranty any more and even if it is, it seems like something that could easily be missed and then I get told the card isn't faulty.

What should I do?

I believe the warranty is 2 years, so if you got it in December 2014 it's still in warranty. If it's an intermittent fault, then it could be hard to prove.

Powercolor has a 2 year warranty, take some vids and ask Bailey in CS what your options are.

Don't know how the rma team works with their testing methodology but got told my BQ FS screen was fine-despite it throwing a wobbly on three separate systems even though I informed them that the problem wouldn't manifest unless powered on for a few hours, but I got refunded in the end so can't complain.

Or try and run it CrossFired as the slave and that might give you an idea if the whole card is gubbed or maybe just the outputs- if that's any use.

don't go all counter on me now, that's all I've got:p:)

Pictures and (hopefully) finding a sure-fire way to replicate the issue, so the returns team don't miss it, would be ideal. Try stuff like Firestrike, Heaven, Valley, if you haven't already.

Also check the cable.
Many of those coming with monitors are pants nowadays. eg the XL2730Z monitor, is not suitable for Freesync!!!!!!
