Hi, ive been using a Geil dual channel kit for around 6 months (2 x 512mb) on my AMD 64 3200+ (Venice 939). Just recently i have been having problems with the "Blue Screen of Death" - completely freezing, with no way out other than restart.
This will only happen during the first 5 - 10 minutes of playing a game (games like BF2, AoE 3, sisters Sims 2 - which i consider memory hungry), after which i can continue to play with no more problems
I have also noticed that this only occurs after first boot of the day - once it gets going, i have no more probs; again
im guessing that the ram isnt refreshing fast enough, or that it is unable to clear itself fast enough to cope with the demand - whether this be through fault, or not enough memory (like i said, just guessing - not really sure how ram works)
Is the memory expiring, or am i thinking along the wrong lines - is there some other problem? Could it be that i need more ram to cope with an ever filling h'disk? i have just defragged after analysis recommended. I have 30gb of 80gb left (SATA), and fragmentation was at around 40-45%.
just to complete the picture, i am using a Radeon X800 GTO (256mb) - which should be adequate to run these games (unless it is this that is starting to crack?)
as you can see, i not exactly sure of what the hell is wrong
any help will be gladly received - thanks in advance
