Hiya all, am looking to upgrade my machine as its been a while now since my last one. i've been out of the loop for some time now and not fully up on all the new stuff so after doing some browsing i've come up with this spec. I mainly play games MMO's in fact and dont really have a budget but again dont want my leg lifting, lol.
Any tips or info about would i get a big increase or should i wait ect, ect, would be greatly appreciated, thx :).

My old spec,
Asus P5 w64 ws mobo,
Intel 6600 core duo chip
Geforce 7950 GX2
corsair 2gb ram

My possible new spec after some browsing:-

Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366)
Intel Core i7 940 2.93Ghz (Nehalem) (but may go for the 920 as this seems a tad pricy)
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3PC3-16000C8 (2000MHz)
NVIDIA - Geforce GTX 295 (would welcome advice on exactly which one to get)
Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366) (again would welcome any advice on exactly which one is best).

Many TIA.

Don’t get the i7 940 it’s a waste of money, the i7 920 D0 will clock just as high and maybe higher. The board is a very good, so stay with that. £300 For Ram, You could probably get something that will be at good use for £200 less. And The Noctua is Good, but apparently The Titan cooler is better, and nearly half the price. If you want simplicity, just get the 4 GHz i7 bundle which is extremely good value for money. And the GTX295, can you bear to spend £100 extra over the 4870X2 is only £250, which is very good and only a few FPS slower than the GTX 295. I will post 2 Spec’s ,The first one will just be a modified one of yours , and the 2nd a one that will performance slight less as good, if not as good, for much less money.
Will your Current PSU be able to Power all this, and is your case big enough?

Do you think i would see a big improvemenet over my last machine? or is there any new stuff just on the horizon i should wait for?. If its only a couple of months i dont mind waiting but if its christmas /10 time then ill just get it now, as i know you can wait, wait, wait, as new stuff is always coming out and prices drop like mad on some stuff. I dont mind that.
Thanks for your reply it gave me new ideas. :)

I would say wait until xmas time prices should have dropped for i7 by then and your current system isn't that bad so for what you suggested you use it for it should last until then no problem.
