I'm going to be getting a new PC in the new year. It's going to be a purely gaming & browsing PC, I know you can't future proof to much, but I'd like to get as much useful life out of it as possible, I'm still running an I7 860 that I got in 2009. to give an example of how much I want to squeeze out of it.I'll be asking OcUK to build & overclock it for me. so that'll put the price up, but I'm happy with that.

I've got a KFA2 GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" that I'm going to use until Big Pascal comes out & I'll add that to the loop or setup it's own loop if there's space. I've also got Windows 7 Professional CD that I can copy onto a USB stick install that then upgrade to Windows 10.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,600.23

Thanks

Thanks for that. I thought the EVGA psu's were rebranded superflower ones? That's why I picked it, just didn't want the lights on the superflower psu.

But that's £60 off the price, cheers! :)

The EVGA G1 is made by FSP. It is a decent unit, but the G2 (SuperFlower) and GS (Seasonic) are better. The XFX is a bargain though for a 1KW Seasonic rebranded unit.

I'd heard the corsair PUS's aren't as good quality as the the likes of Super Flower or Seasonic?

Also I take it there's no real difference between the performance of 2666mhz & 3000mhz RAM?

Some of the lower end stuff can be a bit iffy. The RMx is a solid unit though. If you are buying from OCUK then stick with the XFX.

The Ram speed won't make any real difference for general usage.

Newer benchmarks actually show significant difference for faster ram, but overall it's inconclusive. I would say go for 3000mhz tho anyway, the price difference is small.

For Gaming and Browsing it won't make any difference, so there is no need to spend an extra £20-£30.
