Possible NTL Modem issues?

Hi,

Had my net speed upgraded from 4 MB to 'upto' 10MB on Wednesday but ever since I have been unable to get more than 600-800 kb/s off ftps like blueyonder. I remembered that you can view the modems settings inside the control panel so I opened it up and had a nosey round and found its got all sorts of critical errors:

The Modem is one of the new 250 ones and I am using a Linksys WRT54G router, is my slow download speed because of these errors?

Also speed test sites typically bring back 4-8 mbps.

Speed tests vary wildly depending on where the server you are connected to is and what your route to it is like, www.broadbandspeedtest.net will give you a more balanced overview. It's a download and install jobby but it checks a lot of different servers in different locations to give you an overall impression.
