Ok, I'm interested in knowing what mods I can get for my Clio Van performance-wise. I'm really not interested in chavving it up with cosmetic extras. I love the look of it as it is with the factory sports kit:-

So, what would you recommend? It's a 1.5 dCi70 with 118lb-ft torque @ 2,000 rpm. From what I gather, the same block is used in the dCi85 and dCi100, albeit with some tweaks and extras.

It feels good to drive but more performance is always good!

To be honest, anything short of an engine transplant really isn't going to make any noticeable difference, unless you've got thousands of pounds to spend... in which case, buy a faster van :)

What about an engine remap? I don't know which is the best, so would like some advice, but I hear it's perfectly possible to take it to 85-90bhp and get a nice extra chunk of torque.

Besides, I like the van. A small increase would make me happy :)

I could be being really thick here, but does the dci have a turbo?

Yeah it's a common-rail with turbo - variable geometry I think.

Edit - think I was wrong, doesn't look like the turbo is actually variable geometry. It seems you get that on the more powerful engines.

I suppose you could say an engine remap, induction kit and stainless steel cat-back exhaust would give you a bit more power, but would cost more than the performance increase is worth and would sound *awful* :)

Awful as in 17 year old racer stylee? Because I definitely don't want it to sound like that :D

Hmm, inductions kits don't look to be too expensive. Do they make a suitable difference?

One of the most common things you could do would be a simple remap. Now I only have experience with vag TDI's when it comes to remaps but the Audi A2 1.4TDI (75) would gain an extra 20-25bhp with a remap. (same 3 cylinder diesel as in the VW polo)

Whether a remap would offer the same on the clio I don't know.

A better place to ask would be a forum dedicated to clios or remaps on hte DCI engines. (google).

Another option would be a chip although I don't know whether there is one even available for the engine in question.
