Hi all,
So upon asking for advice on buying a graphics card, it turns out that what I thought was just a cheap PSU could be a serious problem.

Simply put, here is a list of my components in my new computer which I have built.
Ace PSU 500w
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P
AMD Phenom II x4 970
Corsair XMS3 4GB Memory
Samsung F3 1TB Hard Disk Drive

If you think that there is a problem with my PSU, please could you let me know and tell me why this is a problem.
Also do you think I can run my current build with the onboard graphics safely, and then upgrade my PSU when I get a better graphics card?

Thanks for everyone's help, I am new to this!

:)

The PSU is only good for the scrap heap, invest in a decent brand from Corsair, BeQuiet, XFX or Antec.

I did like the dispatch date on the drive though - 1 to 2 months!!

As a rule of thumb a power supply that costs less than £10 per 100W is trouble. I see yours advertised at £11 for a 500W supply!

The supply has two 12v outputs rated at 13A and 14A so a more realistic rating for the PSU is 300W.

Chalk it up to experience and buy a new one..... that one will not power a decent PC for long and will not have any internal protection so when it does fail it will probably fry the components in your PC.
