Iv made a previous topic about my webcam. one of the suggestions was the webcam isnt getting enough voltage..
I read that USB2.0 can deliver 4.75 or 5.25. Im just wondering my USB ports could be just giving 4.75 and my cam needs atleast 5 or something

Is there anyway i can check this out? If there is away to up the voltage please say. I know myself it probly wont work but its worth a try.

no, usb 3.0 has 3 times the CURRENT, not voltage

voltage is fixed at 5v, give or take a bit either side (you'll never get a perfectly stable 5v unless you have awesome rectifiers etc).

best you can do is a) try in some different usb ports, b) try in another pc, or c) get a new webcam :)

Webcam seems to work on my old pc.

Iv tried all my usb ports. Even the motherboard ones. Im beginning to wonder if its just ****** lol. Ill probly buy another cheapy thing of ebay from hongkong

(yes i know theres atleast 3 things wrong with that.)

The best way would be to use a digital multimeter, and read the voltage from the pins on the USB port.

Upping the voltage is harder however, you'll need to break out the soldering iron I imagine...

I got a small USB port thing with my msi motherboard, i couldnt get a reading of it so i cut the wire and took it directly from there.
All 3 ports on my motherboard got 4.92. I dont know about the ones on the I/O area. I was told to do this in another topic because none of my usbs where working and i was worried incase it was faulty motherboard. Turns out it was bios problem. Updated bios sorted that. I tried reading the amps at the time but i got nothing.

Amps is the current and that can only be read with the port under load, and even that would just show how much it is drawing not what it is capable of.
