Is it possible to live without money while still maintaining a decent standard of living?

Can i find a bit of land, build my own house, produce my own food, water and power while making stuff i own last longer, all through knowledge and a little work, to live a good but low consumption lifestyle while never paying a penny in tax again?

There are many benefits to society but surely its my choice to not only live without the system but use the advances from it and be free of it's negatives, after all i could say all i know is that im another life form living on earth, why should i subscribe to the will of another as long as i do not affect anothers freedoms, no person or group can lay claim to ever square inch of land on earth nor can they dictate how or where i travel?

No. Edit: Possibly, depends on your definition of a decent standard of living.

Cost of land. Cost of materials for building a house. Cost of food production. Water and power, I suppose you could technically get free, but the cost would be in the filtration system and the methods used to generate power. Don't know about tax...

Incredibly hippie-ish, but not a bad point. However, people and groups DO own land, and there will always be restrictions on where you can or can't travel and you may need to go through hoops (passport, visa etc) in order to do so.

Eventually yes, but it would take you a bit of expenditure to get to that position in the first place.

I would imagine you would need to produce more than subsistence (i.e. something to sell or trade).

Unless you want to be a nomad, you have to do something with your sewage, you also might have to maintain a generator with parts that you can't feasibly fabricate etc.

you won't get away from council tax if you are in this country

As above, however unless your land has a variety of metals/oil and you are a master craftsman you're not going to get a TV etc. :p

This is about not having money, so you can't be taxed, yet you have every right as any other living thing to have a space to live and do and produce whatever you like in that space, again as long as it doesn't negatively affect another surely?

I'm not sure how you'd avoid paying for police/fire even if you dealt with all your own waste

If you own/live in a property, you are liable to council tax. Regardless of income (or lack there of).

You'd live a very different life, that's for sure.

Is there any way round the council tax issue?

it totally depends on your meaning of decent life style...

without help and a bartering system which is almost the same as money its gonna be a crap life compared to what we are used to.

If you could muster a few slaves to make all your stuff it might be ok, other wise its gonna be a load of hard work (which most of use are not used to).
