Possible to run multiple fans on one controller channel?

I'm looking into buying a fan controller (never had one before) because the stock fans on my new CM 690 II aren't quite as quiet as i'd like. Additionally i'm going to be adding two Enermax Silence fans (although these might be quiet enough at max RPM to not need controlling) as well as an additional 120mm fan attached to my Accelero S1 GPU cooler.

My question basically is whether or not each case fan has to run on one channel of a fan controller meaning I could potentially need 6 channels. Since the stock CM 690 fans all run at 1200rpm it'd be kinda nice if they could all be controlled at the same time on the one channel. Ditto the two Enermax (should they not be quiet enough).

Assuming this can be done which controller would you recommend (if any at this price) for ~£30?

If 6 fans is the max amount your going to run, id reccomend the zalman zm-mfc1 plus, this has 6 channels, one fan per channel is the max on this controler. However there is one controller, sunbeam rheobus, iirc it will easily handle multiple fans on each channel.
 
Each controller will specify the load it can take per channel, so provided your fans are below this figure all will be well. My cheapo rubbish controller allows a full 12w f
(1A at 12v) per channel which is about 3 standard fans. Fans will have their current rating as part of their spec.
 
I also have the zalman zm-mfc1 plus fan controller.
I have joined four 120mm fans together and run that of one channel (x2) & three 120mm fans together and run that of one channel (x2).
The last two channels had a single fan & a RAM cooler (2x 60mm).
This has run this way for 8 months with no problem
 
Good to hear tat the zalman will accept multiple fans per channel piggin, though at the moment im only running four case fans on mine, as my two cooler fans are ran via a pwm splitter from the mobo. Handy though if i ever do add a few more fans to my case.
 
How do i find out the wattage on each fan? For the enermax for example there's nothing on the fan itself about the wattage and on the website - http://www.enermax.co.uk/tbsilence.html (specs tab) - all there is is 'Input Power (W) 1.8'. Surely thats not the right thing though as the NZXT Sentry 2 for example has 10 watts per channel so 1.8 for the enermax seems too low?

I would prefer to run the fans from the zalman instead of the motherboard header just in case you overload the header and damage it.

Power is taken direct from the psu, therefore no stress is placed on the mobos cpu fan header, all it does is provide speed control to my pwm viper fans, used this setup with 3 x pwm fans on a previous setup. However in the past ive ran 2 x arctic cooling pwm fans, daisy chained from the cpu fan header, ran for over a year without any problems.

I thought you were running just a power splitter direct from the motherboard.
My bad.
 
What you need to work out is your current.

This is worked out using the formula

Current = Watts ÷ Volts = Amps

Therefore your 1.8 watts ÷ 12 Volts = 0.15 Amps

So each of your fans draws 0.15amps.

(If you purchase the zalman it will handle this with no problems)

I've got 3x180mm Silverstone air penetrators on one channel of my Zalman and 2x120mm Enermax clusters on another no problem.
 
Sunbeam Rheobus, I have 3 yate loon on one channel, 2 beasty panaflo on the 2nd, coolermaster crossflow fan on the 3rd. LED's are very bright but can be changed/removed.

Also has the bonus of varying the voltage from 0-12v unlike most which give you 8-12v.

Yeah the Enermax Silence is 0.15 amps so 0.15 amps * volts (12) = 1.8 watts? That just seems awfully low as i would be able to run like 6 or 7 of them off one 10 watt channel.
