Ok current setup:
DFI MOBO with:
SATA channel 1: Samsung SATA1 HDD
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RAID 1 mirror
SATA channel 2: Samsung SATA1 HDD
SATA channel 3:
SATA channel 4:
The MOBO can be modded to accept the SATA2 standard and obviously the above HDDs would work fine as SATA2 is backward compatible with SATA1. If I enabled SATA2 and added an extra HDD that was SATA2 as below.....
SATA channel 1: Samsung SATA1 HDD
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> RAID 1 mirror
SATA channel 2: Samsung SATA1 HDD
SATA channel 3: *NEW Samsung SATA2 HDD*
SATA channel 4:
...would this mean that the new one would work at SATA2 speed and the others would still be ok running at SATA1 speed? Note the RAID mirror in the two original SATA1 samsung drives if this makes a difference.
